Bois Forte Heritage Center and Cultural Museum offers 3,000 square feet of exhibits celebrating the history, life and ways of the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe. 

The Dorothy Molter Museum is a memorial to the legendary last resident of the BWCAW, known “the Root Beer Lady” for her hospitality and famous homemade root beer.

The beautiful Ely Area Veterans Memorial is dedicated to all Ely Area Veterans, past, present and future and was built through the donations of citizens, businesses and government entities.

Pioneer Mine Outdoor Walking Tour

Enjoy a fun and educational outdoor walking tour of the Pioneer Mine Historical Site. The location includes the Miners Dry, Captains Dry and Shaft House facilities. Indoor tours of the Shaft House are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day on Tuesdays (2-5 pm) and Fridays (3-6 pm).

Ely-Winton Historical Society

The Ely-Winton Historical Society exists to collect, preserve, and display to the public, artifacts and information relating to the history of our amazing area in northern Minnesota. Through our Museum, our extensive archive of documents and photos, and various informative events throughout the year, we hope to share with you the story of the shining jewel of the Northland. Our Museum and Office are open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, noon to 4:00 pm.
